VINOMETER

Amateur winemaker like to test their crafts for alcohol after it is finished, but trust me, he or she needs to do it the other way around.  Most wines that we think are dry, unless they read a negative 1.5-2 on a plus5-minus 5 hydrometer, will have enough sugar in them to distort any vinometer reading.

Pour your DRY wine sample in the funnel end until the wine runs out of the other end (A), turn it upside down and set it on the funnel, take your reading from the scale in B area. Sugar will distort any alcohol reading and it will not be accurate. Breakable glass.
