Fall Bright, The Winemakers Shoppe

Racking wands or tubes, holders and bottle fillers.

This is a 3/8 spring clip racking wand holder attached to a racking wand, which is a rigid piece of clear tubing, bent to receive a 3/8 or 1/2 in siphon line.  There are tips on the end of the wand that sits in the wine on the bottom of the carboy.  These tips are designed to draw the wine from above the bottom and minimize the transfer of sediment or lees.  If you lose your tip, you can buy replacements.  The spring clip shown above is a handy little item and replaces the human hand (to hold it still)!  We have a spring clip for the 1/2 wand and some winemakers use the cone shape holder below.  If you can't find yours, look in the toy box.  It has multiple uses.

Bottle fillers:

Start your siphon and attach the filler.  This filler is gravity fed and stops when you lift it up and out of the bottle.  You have got to keep on your toes with this one.

This is a spring loaded filler. You must push down on it to make it flow.  It stops when lifted off the bottom.  Some winemakers use clamps for bottling.

We personally like the bottle fillers better.  Tom likes the spring loaded one and I like the gravity feed one.

We now have auto siphons for 3/8" and 1/2" tubing.
