Buon Vino MINI JET Pads

Fall Bright, The Winemakers Shoppe

Filtering tips: Muddy looking wines should not be filtered, rather they should be clarified with proper fining. Check the brix, TA and pH. Make necessary adjustments and additions such as SO2 and Sorbate. Fine and cold stabilize prior to filtration.

Caution:  As with any new and dry priming pump, pour some water into the intake hose before flipping the switch.  Do not run dry or run while switching between carboys, as that increases oxidation of the wine.

Buon Vino MINI JET filter pads:

1.    The #1 filter pads are coarse pads, used mainly for heavy wines.  These pads will produce minimal clarity for you wine.  They are used as a first filtration to extract the larger suspended particles that remain if your wine has not fallen bright.

2.  The #2 pads are finer and are used for brightening and polishing your wine.  You should notice a brightness and clarity.  The  pads remove smaller suspended particles and are used for your second filtration.

3.  The #3 pads should only be used if your wine has been filtered with the #2 pads at least once.  The #3 pads assist in removing a higher percentage of yeast in the wine.  They are a pre bottling finish pad.

NOTE:  One set of pads will effectively filter 23 liters (5 gallons) of wine.  Remove and replace the pads with a new set after filtering this quantity of wine.  Once you have started filtering DO NOT filter more than 10 gallons or 50 liters of wine at a time.  If you have additional wine to be filtered you MUST allow the motor to cool for 45 minutes to an hour before further filtering.

Important:  Do NOT allow the pump to run DRY.
