CONTAINERS
Carboys and Pails

Fall Bright, The Winemakers Shoppe

Carboys:  We carry 2.8, 3, 5 gallons and on occasion have 6 or 6.5's

The 3,5,6, 6.5's look like this.  The 2.8 carboy, which we have by accident, looks like a sawed off carboy.  Some of our winemakers are pairing them with the 3, racking down from 3 to 2.8 in hopes of not needing to top up.  They are out of stock and we can not replace them.
This was the 2.8 gallon carboy.

These glass carboys are not PYREX
TM and will may crack with the use of hot water.  Use warm or cool water to clean.  They crack if clicked together so always pad between carboys.  Use the cardboard box, buy or make a carrying crate or a plastic crate to protect your jug.  Sometimes we have wooden carrying crates at the shop for sale. When cleaning your jug in a porcelain bathtub or a stainless steel sink, place a towel on the bottom of the tub or sink so the jug will not click against the hard surface and crack.

A hedpak is a 5 gallon rigid plastic for safer carrying.  Spigots available but not included.

Pails:

The shorter one is the 7.9 and the taller one is the 6.5 gallon.  Our pails are printed.  The lids come with the pails and can be purchased separately.  Some lids are drilled for bungs and some have grommets.  We also have pails with holes drilled in the side near the bottom for a bottling spigot. The pail on the top right is a single stage fermenter.  We do not carry them anymore. They fell out in favor of pails with a bail.

Bottling spigots fit 3/8 tubing.  To rig a gravity feed system for use with the Mark III filter, we use the plastic (square) vented hedpak  with the 3/8" bottling spigot, run 3/8 tubing to the tubing that fits the filter.  The longer the drop, the faster the filtration.

This is the 3/8 spigot.  Extra nuts and gaskets are available separately.  These spigots fit a 1 inch hole.  We also have a spigot for 1/2 inch line. Below.
